p.2 Why do we call it: ‘Acts?’

Luke’s TITLE Acts from Greek ποιέω for his historic account of the Apostles means Abide, Abode:

“to do, make,” is used of spending a time or tarrying, in a place, Act 15:33; 20:3

“Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do^G4160 what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and [does] acts^G4160 on them..

We know ‘act‘ from the Hebrew imperative as well.

לֹֽא־תַעֲשׂוּן כֵּן לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

“You shall not act this way toward the LORD your God.

For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
