p.2 Why do we call it: ‘Acts?’
Luke’s TITLE Acts from Greek ποιέω for his historic account of the Apostles means Abide, Abode:
“to do, make,” is used of spending a time or tarrying, in a place, Act 15:33; 20:3
We know ‘act‘ from the Hebrew imperative as well.
לֹֽא־תַעֲשׂוּן כֵּן לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
“You shall not act this way toward the LORD your God.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 12 :4 – Masoretic text; NASB20
For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 NASB20
