  • A Remnant called to REPENTANCE

    A Remnant called to REPENTANCE

    Repentance, or else!

We don’t like ultimatums. YOU MUST REPENT, or else the Lord will do ‘this or that.’ No wonder the Prophets of the LORD were often rejected in their own land.

Repentance, or else, becomes a recurring theme before the coming of the Messiah Jesus and before the long silence of the LORD which precedes Christ in Bethlehem, Nazareth, Capernaum and Jerusalem. You will find it Malachi the last book of the Old Testament and even in the Psalms.

The intentional call of repentance is both serious and urgent. John the Baptist uses pointed language which offends and so did the Promised One, Jesus, Son of Man and Son of God.

    Scriptures

    Malachi 3 & 4

    Luke 3

    Isaiah 33

“Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire?
Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”

  • D.C. al Coda – if your heart turns away..

It was part of Moses’ warning, wasn’t it? The LORD will bless you, BUT IF YOUR HEART TURNS AWAY, woe to your children cursed for your disobedience.

    Deuteronomy 9{7 Jordan river crossing

    What’s wrong with this picture?

No, I’m not asking what’s wrong with this picture of Joshua and the men of Israel about to cross the Jordan to conquer the promised land. (Yes, they had already been disobedient to the LORD.)

I ask you what is wrong with the picture of the LORD having to remind the Hebrews about their disobedience. In fact, it is a foreshadowing of further breaking of many covenants which eventually will lead to the fall of Israel, Judah and Temple worship.

    Pictures of a future curse

So when you first look at the picture of two models of worship side by side in Jerusalem ask yourself, ‘What’s wrong with this picture?’

In fact, buildings of these two religions cannot stand side by side. They oppose each other.

Worshiping the place of worship is forgetting the LORD God you claim.

You say you believe the word of the LORD to Moses, so what happened?

What made the hearts of your fathers turn away?

And why have you not gone back to the beginning of Scripture to remember that, ‘These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel across the Jordan in the wilderness..’, my fellow child of God?

Have you forgotten their curses? Do you doubt the covenants of your fathers with the LORD, which turn upon you if you heart turns away?

“For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.

The Good News of John 5:46 – Words of the Messiah Jesus

    Scriptures

    Deuteronomy 30

    Thus says the LORD:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
    and makes flesh his strength,
whose heart turns away from the LORD. –

    Jeremiah 17:5

    1 Kings 9, 11

D.C. al Coda – Deuteronomy – But IF..

    :אֵלֶּה הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר מֹשֶׁה

    Devarim (Deuteronomy) 1:1a

Devarim – “These are the words..

But IF we do not remember or believe or obey, what then?

    • Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
      • – Exodus 4:1
    • And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this people be disrespectful to Me? And how long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs that I have performed in their midst.
      • – Numbers 14:11

God said! Moses said. Scripture said..

    We’re sceptics, aren’t we?

And it’s more than just Satan tempting man, misquoting Scripture and asking, ‘Did God really say..?’

blessing of curse you can choose

We make a promise or covenant with the LORD.

God says that HE will do this, BUT then we go and do THAT – that which the Lord God says NOT to do.

Man sins even knowing the CURSE of GOD, even as we expect the BLESSING of God given for obedience.

    Deuteronomy 9{7 Jordan river crossing

God calls on us to remember
    BOTH blessing and curse.

Remember your sin of the past which led to curse, so that you will not fail to obey and receive the LORD’s blessing.
