This Prophecy will surely happen
We continue to look at prophecy of the past as it relates to the Good News of fulfillment in the Christ Jesus, a reason that Jews who studied and obeyed their Scripture listened to their own prophets who by the Holy Spirit predicted a famine and worked signs and miracles by the hand of God.

Today, we look back at Daniel at a time after the fall of the Temple as he reads the handwriting by the hand of God on the wall of a distant palace far from Jerusalem.

A look back at a Treasurer of Egypt – צָֽפְנַת פַּעְנֵחַ

This Egyptian ruler was not unlike a later Candace of Ethiopia encountered by the evangelist Philip.

You know this treasurer of Egypt as Joseph

At first glance of Acts of the Apostles we hardly notice so many parallels in encounters between important men of the past. Men like Philip (who is not even an Apostle) called to meet with a eunuch reading Isaiah. Or similarly a lost son of Israel turning up in Pharaoh’s administration of all Egypt.

The Spirit of the Lord led these men to the places where they obediently follow God’s will and do the Lord’s gracious work.

Today’s Summer Scriptural rerun takes a more detailed look at Joseph’s ascent to power as a leading administrator of Pharaoh doing the LORD’s work by preparing for a great famine millennia before Christ.

The Gospel of John contains some Good News.

Jesus Christ came into the world to save those He loves. John’s letters also encourage a growing church (in the first century) who increasingly face challenges of the self-reliant contemporaries of their world. (Sound familiar?)
