    CHAPTER 4

    PRAYER SPEAKS TO GOD: person to PERSON.

    After my reply, “Here I am, Lord,” I remembered:

    The purpose of a PRAYER of Samuel’s mother Hannah had been to glorify God — as had been the purpose of a latter prayer from a just announced virgin mother-to-be of the Son of Man.

    Samuel 2: And Hannah prayed and said:
    “My heart rejoices in the Lord;
    My horn [strength] is exalted in the Lord.
    6 “The Lord kills and makes alive;
    He brings down to the grave and brings up.
    8 He raises the poor from the dust
    And lifts the beggar from the ash heap,
    To set them among princes
    And make them inherit the throne of glory.

    Here I lay, in a conversation with the LORD MOST HIGH, which THE LORD had initiated. I gave the ONLY answer I knew: the answer of obedience.

    CHAPTER 3

    ROGER!

    THE LORD GOD MOST HIGH spoke my name (as if HE knew me personally)!

    Of course — (I had not really grasped the significance of this on earth) – Of course our CREATOR knows us by name. I recalled:

    Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

    I also recalled the words of John:

    Revelation 10:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,”

    I answered in my humblest confidence, “Here I am, LORD,”

    I remembered it from the first experience of the Prophet Samuel, when the Lord spoke to him on earth.

    1 Samuel 3:9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

    CHAPTER 2

    As I lay upon the clouds of Heaven listening for a command of GOD, I became aware of an indescribable GLORY surrounding me and this PLACE where I found myself – or rather I might say: in this place where my soul lay.

    Unspeakable LIGHT! Unspeakable other sounds and even fragrances wafting into my awakening nostrils, as I became aware of a new life within me. It is near paradox to convey this revelation of the feeling to say that it was ‘Heavenly,’ or that this Place was ‘Paradise’ (perhaps identical to Eden) to the senses of my human soul.

    Ezekiel, David, the Apostle John, and others have attempted description of this Place beyond imagery of human experience. I will not. The GLORY: of GOD, and of the THRONE, and of Heaven so far exceed the glory of all of Creation known to man!

    Then, as I had been certain: GOD SPOKE!
