  • But if the LORD make a new thing

Revelation 21: 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” 5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!”

Though filled with the LORD’s joy and assurance of salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord and witness to his great grace and mercy to receive one like me, a sinner, into the light and life of eternal joy; I have been grieved this week for the souls loved ones.

My wife and my children know my witness for Christ Jesus and striving to do what is right in the Lord in my word and my actions, but even my most beloved ones remain far from me and my heart is filled with sorrow and emptied of joy when I am not touched and embraced in the Lord by loved ones.

Family and friends remain far off and out of reach. The Lord is near, yet the promise of no more tears seems far off.

How can the Lord seem near to two beloved: a beloved wife and her husband in the Lord, a nurturing parent and a child so far away, a dear brother or sister?

Will the LORD make a new thing by blessing of His love in the hearts of those we love? God is Creator and His Word is true.

“Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

Do you, dearly beloved, fear God your Maker? Do you, dear friend, love the Lord your Savior?

Why then do you not remember your vows to the Lord and your covenants with men?

Why do you not remember in your salvation in Christ Jesus his own love for your brother or sister or friend.

Jesus was so personal in his love for all He touched. Why is your love for others not also witness of His love for you? Why would you turn impersonal and cold in your love for the Lord and for others?

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

God IS a Person! You have met him in our Lord Christ Jesus!

The Person of God creates — and He alone will cause the passing of the old and creation of the new.

IF you truly read scripture, you will see how God is grieved over people when they sin and turn away from his love – when they claim Him as theirs, yet will not do what is right in His eyes. The Prophets warn us over and over again of God’s wrath against those who backslide from doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD and men of God have at times put the challenge of righteousness and willful unrighteousness as example before all of consequence of turning against the Living Person of God, our Creator.

Numbers 16:So the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’ ” “If these men die naturally like all men, or if they are visited by the common fate of all men, then the LORD has not sent me. “But if the LORD creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the LORD.” Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up… So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them… And a fire came out from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men…

WHY would you not bow down to your LORD, Creator, Redeemer and Father who loves yet will punish His own children or destroy those who do insist on doing NOT His will, but their own?

Do you love the Lord your God will all your heart and all your mind and all your soul and all your strength?

Why not? (For you do not show even to your own the love of the Father for you and the love of the Son who became the Blood of Sacrifice for your sins.)

Is your witness to the world God’s love for you?

Is your love for your husband, your wife, your child, your parent, your brother, your sister, your neighbor, your friend – is your love for God’s loved one the same as they and you would expect from Jesus (whom you call ‘lord’)?  Even ‘good’ christians who claim the love of Christ Jesus (really, especially christians who say that Jesus is lord) ought to fear any offense to the Person of God, as also shown to God’s chosen.

Acts 5 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. 4 The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!” 5 As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor and died. Everyone who heard about it was terrified.

WHY would you lie to the Holy Spirit in your vow before God?

WHY would you lie about the truth of Christ Jesus by breaking your word before the witness of man?

WHY would you not receive the love of God your Father before you have brought Him to the wrath to destroy your witness and create a repentant prodigal in the heart of another? The LORD our Maker has created.

The LORD our Potter has molded us from clay of sinful flesh. He has kneaded in His own righteousness into us through Christ Jesus.

Has not the Potter the right to break the vessel and shape a soul into something new?

Revelation 21:8  “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Our Maker and Redeemer will judge! Only those truly repentant and faithful, truly loving the Person of God and His created ones will remain. That is why there will be no more weeping.

Love will be real for me and for you, in the Person of Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
    Now it shall spring forth;
    Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
    And rivers in the desert.

May it be our personal witness of love for our beloved, in witness to the love of Christ Jesus for His Beloved Church, His bride.

This is my plea to my wife; to my children and brothers and sisters, my friends, my family – IF we are the Lord’s, let the fruit of His love be known in our love for each other.

  • Slow of Heart to Believe

    Slow of Heart to Believe

Are we slow of heart to believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ Jesus?

In an early encounter with two of His disciples (followers), Jesus, our risen Lord, accuses gently:

“O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken …”

     Luke 24:25 KJV

Does this from our Lord resonate in your twenty-first century ears?

A commentator on what Jesus told these two disciples from the Prophets remarked (certainly tongue-in-cheek) that he could never forgive Cleopas for not telling Luke which passages from the Prophets Jesus used. I, too, could only speculate; but would point us to some scriptures we might resist in our Bible reading. It is with more ‘WARNINGS’ to the churches I would like to direct our reluctant eyes ‘slow of heart to believe.’

    the_seven_churches_of_revelation

    • Ephesus – you have abandoned the love you had at first…
    • Smyrna – Do not fear what you are about to suffer.
    • Pergamum – you have some there who… practice sexual immorality.
    • Thyatira – teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality…
    • Sardis – “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die…
    • Philadelphia – I know that you have but little power… I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
    • Laodicea –  For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

AS WE, would so easily dismiss the cautions of Jesus to the seven churches of Revelation; so, too, the disciples were ‘slow of heart to believe’ all the Prophets had warned God’s disciple nation: Israel (and also Judah).

NOTE: The following scriptures are King James Version:

Isaiah 3:8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

Jeremiah 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Hosea 4: Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

Perhaps, hearing with open ears and seeing scripture with eyes uncovered, you may see in much scripture how the Messiah, the Christ, must suffer and die.

Hear (even after His resurrection) and consider in closing Psalm 49, thinking of the incarnate life of Jesus.

Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

I will incline mine ear to a parable…

    They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption…

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me…

Luke 23:46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!”

And having said this he breathed his last.

  • A Flicker of Faith

    A Flicker of Faith

Proverbs 24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

    Beloved brother; dearly beloved sister:

I know you have been ‘lukewarm‘ in your belief in Christ. You have been lukewarm in your faith in Jesus. You have been cold in your heart for His church and unthankful in your daily life.

Your offering has been stingy (if you have even returned any of what is already His).

And your prayer?  … Probably as infrequent as my prayers so often become.

The flame of His light dimly flickers in the fruit of your witness. You resist the fire of His Holiness each time the Lord calls you to repentance.

Yes… at times, we are lukewarm for the risen Lord, Christ Jesus. At times, we fail miserably in our Christian… our christian… our not-so-Christlike mortal life.

    The Light in You

Luke 11:33 “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.

34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. 35 Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.

36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”

John 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Has the Lord’s light left your heart?

OR do you answer our risen Lord’s voice at the door of your heart saying: ‘Repent, beloved?’

Jesus seeks the lost. He welcomes the return of the prodigal christian.

For to the church at Ephesus, the risen Christ also revealed through John:

Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent…

7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’
