    A Temporary Throne – 29

Previously, we questioned GOD about the three wives of ‘Father Abraham.’

    CHAPTER 29

Genesis 24: 66 And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. 67 Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

“Isaac loved Rebekah, but did Rebekah love him?” For she later deceived her husband to bless Jacob over Esau, I thought.

HAVE YOU EVER DECEIVED YOUR WIFE, THOUGH SHE LOVED YOU?

I knew well the answer: more than once.

Then I thought less of how I had been deceived. I forgave, as I had been forgiven.

REBEKAH LOVED ISAAC. I PLANTED THE SEED OF MY PROMISES IN HER WOMB. REBEKAH ALSO LOVED ME.

Genesis 25: 22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said to her:
“Two nations are in your womb,
    Two peoples shall be separated from your body;
One people shall be stronger than the other,
And the older shall serve the younger.”
24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb.

I LOVED ISAAC AS A MAN LOVES HIS ONLY SON.

ISAAC AND REBEKAH LOVED EACH OTHER AS ONE. ISAAC AND REBEKAH LOVED ME AS ONE. I AM THE LORD. I AM LOVE.

TO REBEKAH, WHOM I LOVED, I REVEALED WHAT MUST BE FULFILLED BY THEIR SONS. DOES A MOTHER NOT ALSO LOVE ALL HER CHILDREN?

    A Temporary Throne – 28

    CHAPTER 28

Genesis 17: 4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you…

I AM ALMIGHTY GOD. MY COVENANT IS THROUGH ABRAHAM. MY COVENANT IS THROUGH NOAH. THE SEED OF ABRAHAM IS THE SEED OF NOAH, THE SEED OF MY FRUIT THROUGH ADAM.

“Did Sarah love Abraham? How could she, after he had selfishly given her to Pharaoh? And if she loved Abraham, how could Sarah give Hagar to him as a wife?”

    SARAH HONORED AND OBEYED ABRAHAM.

SARAH KEPT HER WORD AND HER PROMISE.

SARAH LOVED ABRAHAM FOR MY SAKE; FOR SARAH LOVED ME MORE THAN ANY MAN.

“It isn’t the same love, as the love between a man and his wife when they become one in the flesh.”

LOVE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN IS MORE THAN THE FLESH; BUT WE WILL TALK OF THAT LATER.

ABRAHAM LOVED HIS GOD. SARAH LOVED HER GOD. HAGAR ACKNOWLEDGED MY LOVE AS WELL. I AM LOVE.

“And Abraham had another wife after Hagar was gone and Sarah had died; and they too had more children.”

A MAN AND HIS WIFE BECOME ONE FLESH,

TWO JOINED AS ONE TO BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY.

THROUGH THEM I GIVE LIFE, IMAGE OF MY OWN LOVE FOR YOU.

    A Temporary Throne – 27

    CHAPTER 27

Genesis 12: 10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land. 11 And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. 12 Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife’; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. 13 Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you.”

“Abram could have lost his wife to Pharaoh by his lie that she was his sister and not his wife. Yet You, Lord, protected his marriage for the sake of Your covenant.”

HOW DID ABRAM BECOME ONE WITH TWO WIVES?

    “LORD, YOU know.

Hagar was given to Abram, from Sarai. Surely she was a gift of Pharaoh to his betrothed, Sarai, wife of Abram. And Sarai gave her husband, her servant as his wife, a womb for the seed of Your Promise.”

WAS THIS MY WILL AND MY COMMAND?

“LORD, only YOU know your will. I know of no command.

I do not think that Sarai or Abram even asked You of your will. Yet You, Lord, allowed Abraham to have two wives.”

AS I ALLOWED ABRAM’S FREE WILL WITH PHAROAH AND SARAI TO APPEAL TO HIS FLESH.

AS I GAVE ADAM FREEDOM TO EAT OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE AND EVE TO CONVINCE HIM.
YET DID I, THE LORD, NOT HAVE COMPASSION FOR HAGAR AND FOR SARAI, AS WELL AS MY SERVANT, ABRAHAM?

“Lord, for thirteen years, was Ishmael not the apple of Abraham’s eye?

And hasn’t the contest of wife against wife and brother against brother continued even to this day?”

SINCE CAIN AND ABEL; BUT WE WILL SPEAK OF WIVES.
