    A Temporary Throne – 36

Previously: COME, ROGER. I WILL SHOW YOU THE LOVE OF TWO BROTHERS.

I KNEW ESAU AND I KNEW JACOB.

    CHAPTER 36

Genesis 25: 21 Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 But the children struggled together within her… 24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. 25 And the first came out red… so they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob…

27 So the boys grew… 28 And Isaac loved Esau… but Rebekah loved Jacob.

The LORD then said to me words I knew from scripture:

JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED.

“Lord, I have never understood this.”

Romans 9: For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham… 11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), 12 it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

I TAKE THE WORD OF A MAN SERIOUSLY… FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

ESAU SPOKE AGAINST ME TO JACOB. I AM THE LORD.

Genesis 25: 32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?”
33 Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.”
So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob… Thus Esau despised his birthright.

THE WORD OF A MAN IS ESTABLISHED UNTIL DEATH.
THE WORD OF THE LORD LIVES FOREVER.

    A Temporary Throne – 33

     CHAPTER 33

Genesis 32 9 Then Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you’: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies… 11 Deliver me, I pray… and the mother with the children. 12 For You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”

COME, ROGER. WE WILL ANSWER JACOB’S PRAYER.
REFEREE RIGHTLY BETWEEN ME AND JACOB.

Once more, at God’s Command (again, in answer to prayer), we descended from THE THRONE to an isolated place on the earth.

It was night. As Jacob slept, THE LORD fell on him and having the advantage of surprise, prevailed, as Jacob grabbed at HIM and kept HIM near, then gained an upper hand.

When THE LORD was at disadvantage to Jacob, THE LORD did not let Jacob loose, either, and continued the struggle.

Genesis 32: 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”
But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
27 So He said to him, “What is your name?”
    He said, “Jacob.”

THE LORD and Jacob looked to me: I judged a draw.

THE LORD and Jacob loosed each other and THE LORD blessed Jacob.

28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Covenant – divine ordinance with signs or pledges

    CHAPTER 32

Genesis 31:3 Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you.”

24 But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”

43 And Laban answered and said to Jacob, “These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and this flock is my flock; all that you see is mine. But what can I do this day to these my daughters or to their children whom they have borne?

44 Now therefore, come, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it be a witness between you and me.”

“I see the holiness of this covenant with You, LORD; and the solemn promise between a father, who gave away two daughters and his son-in-law who served and waited seven years for each (if I may say before the Law that Jacob is Son-in-Law to Laban).”

48 And Laban said, “This heap is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore its name was called Galeed, 49 also Mizpah, because he said, “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from another. 50 If you afflict my daughters, or if you take other wives besides my daughters, although no man is with us—see, God is witness between you and me!”

A BOND OF FAMILY IS FORMED BY THE MAN AND THE WOMAN JOINED AS ONE.

BY MY VOW I WILL NOT BREAK THIS BOND OF MARRIAGE AND WITNESS TO ME. I AM THE LORD.

Mark 10: 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’;  so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
