    Thrones

    Genesis 41:38-40 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.”

    2 Samuel 7

    English Standard Version (ESV)

    The Lord’s Covenant with David

    8 Now, therefore, thus you shall say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel. 9 And I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth…

    13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, 15 but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’”

    The Ancient of Days Reigns

    Ancient_of_Days

    9 “As I looked, thrones were placed,

    and the Ancient of Days took his seat;
    his clothing was white as snow,
    and the hair of his head like pure wool;
    his throne was fiery flames;
    its wheels were burning fire.
    10 A stream of fire issued
    and came out from before him;
    a thousand thousands served him,
    and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him;
    the court sat in judgment,
    and the books were opened.

    Matthew 19:28

    Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

    Revelation 4

    English Standard Version (ESV)

    The Throne in Heaven

    4 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. 3 And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, 6 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.

    And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: 7 the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight. 8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say,

    “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
    who was and is and is to come!”

    9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

    11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
    to receive glory and honor and power,
    for you created all things,
    and by your will they existed and were created.”

    Crown Imperial – William Walton

    queen 1

    They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

    11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
    to receive glory and honor and power,
    for you created all things,
    and by your will they existed and were created.”

    The majesty of heaven is far beyond description of anything we have encountered in this temporal kingdom in the place of this lowly earth on which God our Father and King has placed us in these last days.

    Perhaps closest in imagery is the glory of passing kingdoms, even the former glory of Great Britain, whose queen, HRH Elizabeth II, has reigned over seventy-five years.

    The Prophet Daniel addressed the King over his life and existence on this earth in a foreign land with a respect and honor no longer rendered to HRM, Prime Ministers, Presidents, or Popes; yet once, the people bowed down to their earthly rulers.

    Though Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul and others honored Caesar, they did not worship Caesar in place of the Living God.

    Daniel so honored the King and came to leadership in a foreign land as Joseph had honored Pharaoh and came to leadership in Egypt. All is in witness that we bow down to God Almighty in Heaven, while we serve God’s appointed leaders on earth.

    Hear this witness to the Lord:

    Daniel 4

    English Standard Version (ESV)

    Nebuchadnezzar Praises God

    4 [a] King Nebuchadnezzar to all peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you! 2 It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me.

    3 How great are his signs,
    how mighty his wonders!
    His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
    and his dominion endures from generation to generation.

    34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever,

    for his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
    and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;
    35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
    and he does according to his will among the host of heaven
    and among the inhabitants of the earth;
    and none can stay his hand
    or say to him, “What have you done?”

    36 At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and splendor returned to me. My counselors and my lords sought me, and I was established in my kingdom, and still more greatness was added to me. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

     Who is the King before which the Kings and Queens of the earth will cast all their crowns and bow down to Him?

    Though Satan will seek to usurp the Throne, Christ Jesus IS the victor of the Kingdom through His Sacrifice on the Cross.

    ALL will bow down before Christ Jesus, or Lord!

    Hebrews 1: 3-4

    He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

    Doxology

    24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

  • Glory and Honor and Power

    Worship requires the creature to bow down to it’s Creator.  The Apostle John records the worship of the living creatures. Man must also bow down to the Lord our God.

    “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
    who was and is and is to come!”

    Revelation 4:9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

    11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
    to receive glory and honor and power,
    for you created all things,
    and by your will they existed and were created.”
