    A Temporary Throne – 37

    CHAPTER 37

Proverbs 18: 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

FROM THE WOMB ESAU HONORED HIS FATHER, BUT DID NOT HONOR HIS GOD AND CREATOR.  I AM THE LORD.

Genesis 27: Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.”

And he answered him, “Here I am.”
2 Then he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death …make me savory food, such as I love… that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”

ESAU IS A GROWN MAN SEEKING WHAT HE EXCHANGED FOR FOOD AS A YOUNG MAN.  ISAAC IS A MAN OF HIS WORD.

34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me—me also, O my father!”

35 But he said, “Your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessing.”
36 And Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”

Then I said to the LORD, “Esau remembered his word to his brother from years before. As You allowed Esau to be born first, You allowed Jacob to supplant him from his rightful blessing, which he disavowed.”

    HEAR ISAAC’S BLESSING AND UNDERSTAND.

“… And it shall come to pass, when you become restless,
That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”

    A Temporary Throne – 36

Previously: COME, ROGER. I WILL SHOW YOU THE LOVE OF TWO BROTHERS.

I KNEW ESAU AND I KNEW JACOB.

    CHAPTER 36

Genesis 25: 21 Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 But the children struggled together within her… 24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. 25 And the first came out red… so they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob…

27 So the boys grew… 28 And Isaac loved Esau… but Rebekah loved Jacob.

The LORD then said to me words I knew from scripture:

JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED.

“Lord, I have never understood this.”

Romans 9: For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham… 11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), 12 it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

I TAKE THE WORD OF A MAN SERIOUSLY… FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

ESAU SPOKE AGAINST ME TO JACOB. I AM THE LORD.

Genesis 25: 32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?”
33 Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.”
So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob… Thus Esau despised his birthright.

THE WORD OF A MAN IS ESTABLISHED UNTIL DEATH.
THE WORD OF THE LORD LIVES FOREVER.

    A Temporary Throne – 30

Continuing Roger’s conversation with GOD of the marriage of Isaac & Rebekah

     CHAPTER 30

“I had never given much thought to Isaac and Rebekah as a model of marriage and the family.”

YET ESAU AND JACOB, SEED OF SETH, WERE ALSO SEED OF ADAM, LIKE CAIN AND ABEL.

    SIN LEAVENS EVERY LOVE:

LOVE OF HUSBAND AND WIFE, LOVE OF BROTHERS; LOVE OF PARENTS AND CHILDREN.

Genesis 26: 34 When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite. 35 And they were a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah.

“Esau already despised his birthright.” (Gen. 25:34)

Genesis 27: Why should I be bereaved also of you both in one day?”

46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?”

“Rebekah could have grieved like Eve, after Cain murdered Abel.”

Genesis 28: 8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac. 9 So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.

“So Esau has three wives, but Jacob will be tricked by his uncle Laban into marrying twice.”

Genesis 29:16 Now Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. 17 Leah’s eyes were delicate, but Rachel was beautiful of form and appearance.
