    January 5, in the year of our Lord, 2022: Violence.

    What to do about violence

    • Can WE prevent it?
    • Who should judge it?
    The world of this 21st century A.D. remembers, in a moment of silence and more months of rage, those acts of violence WE THE PEOPLE have brought upon ourselves.

    I will return to this application (tomorrow) after today's short take on Scripture from near the beginning of the Bible.

    “The end of humanity has come before Me;

    for the earth is filled with violence because of people;

    and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.”

    Genesis 6:13 – The word of the LORD to Noah

    Suppose the Perspective of God

    1. IF you can imagine the destruction of just the past year through the eyes of the Creator, how would you view it?
    2. (Do you know the blessing of Lamech, where today’s Scripture begins?)

    “This one will give us comfort from our work and from the hard labor of our hands caused by the ground which the LORD has cursed.”

    Genesis 5:29

    Genesis 6

    Corruption & Wickedness: Increasing Violence brings Judgment!

    Each of these could be a Scriptural topic to itself; however today's short take from Scripture will focus ONLY on violence.

    11 Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.

    12 And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for humanity had corrupted its way upon the earth.

    Genesis 6:11-12 NASB
    2021 Louisiana flood

    13 Then God said to Noah, “The end of humanity has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of people; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.

    Cleansing this wickedness

    Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. – Genesis 7:17

    • Do YOU believe that the LORD God judged the violence of the earth by destroying ALL THE PEOPLE, except Noah and his family?
    • Does GOD have a right to judge?
    • Will GOD continue to judge violence and evil by punishment of humankind?
    • Do you believe that GOD will again destroy the earth, this time by fire?

    Violence – חָמָס

    Violence is a word with an origin well-known to humankind, though by hearing and seeing it through partisan eyes we may not have recognized its source.

    Listen: חָמָס

    Listen, then COMMENT with your ANSWER to violence.

    Habakkuk

    How long, Lord, have I called for help,
    And You do not hear?
    I cry out to You, “Violence!”
    Yet You do not save.

    Are You not from everlasting,
    O Lord my God, my Holy One?
    We shall not die.
    O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment;
    O Rock, You have marked them for correction.

    “Behold the proud,
    His soul is not upright in him;
    But the just shall live by his faith.

    “Indeed, because he transgresses by wine,
    He is a proud man,
    And he does not stay at home.
    Because he enlarges his desire as hell,
    And he is like death, and cannot be satisfied,
    He gathers to himself all nations
    And heaps up for himself all peoples.

    “Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed,
    Who establishes a city by iniquity!

    Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts
    That the peoples labor to feed the fire,
    And nations weary themselves in vain?

    “But the Lord is in His holy temple.

    Let all the earth keep silence before Him.”

    Habakkuk 2:20 NKJV

    O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid;
    O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years!
    In the midst of the years make it known;
    In wrath remember mercy.

    Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
    I will joy in the God of my salvation.

  • GOD Allows Violence

    GOD Allows Violence

     O Lord, how long shall I cry,

    And You will not hear?
    Even cry out to You, “Violence!”
    And You will not save. Habakkuk 1:2

    If God did NOT allow violence, the blood of Christ’s Cross could not have been sacrificed for our sins.

    This is a time that Muslims spend in study and prayer. Some will spend the whole night in prayer or in reciting the Qur’an.

    Lailat al Qadr is a good time to ask for forgiveness.

    Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards (not to show off) then all his past sins will be forgiven.  Hadith, Bukhari Vol 1, Book 2:34

    IF this is a time for prayer and fasting in Islam, why must God use Mosques as morgues?

    God allows violence.  Every nation is a nation of sinners.  My nation, the United States is also a nation of sinners. Every man is a sinner.  Every woman is a sinner.

    Sin against God Almighty will be judged.  Sin of false prophets will be judged.  Sin of godless religious and national leaders will be judged. Sin of godless men will be judged.

    No night or month or years of prayer can attain the forgiveness of sin.

    Only the blood of Christ shed on the Cross is sufficient before God our Father to grant the mercy we do NOT deserve – the wonderful grace of our Father God’s love.

    Does that mean we should not pray?  Of course not.  Prayer to God our Father is answered in His time.  Do not pray to idols or angels or men who are dead.  We pray by the grace of the Blood of Christ Jesus.  Our Father loves us and listens to our prayers.

    “Therefore pray for the people of Egypt.  We pray for you in the Name of Christ Jesus, who shed His Blood on the Cross also for you.
