The dung gate…When the people of God rebuilt the walls around Jerusalem they also rebuilt the dung gate. Nehemiah 2:13, 3:14. Thoughts in my mind:
1. The city had a dung gate for a reason.
2. If a church begins to stink maybe it doesn’t have a dung gate.
3. Our ears are not the place for dung (gossip)…they are for hearing from God.
4. Dung works great on crops as fertilizer BUT looks horrible in the ears and clogs up the ability to hear clearly.
Last thought…When the walls were dedicated.Nehemiah 12:31 “I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of the wall. I also assigned 2 large choirs to give thanks. One was to proceed on top of the wall to the right toward the Dung Gate. ”
They gave praise for the Dung Gate. After all…who likes “stink” in the city.
