Whatever..
Yada, yada, yada..
Someone tried to share some wisdom with you, perhaps a Proverb or something, and you stop them short. You THINK you understand OR more likely there is NO WAY that you can ever understand. Really, they speak a language you DON”T understand, perhaps Yiddish, or God-forgive, Hebrew.
yāḏaʿ (yaw-dah’) – יָדַע
Yes, it’s from the Hebrew (not the Yiddish) Bible
Surely you know..
You know Hebrew, right? (Or maybe not.) And of course you knew prophesy appears in other books of the Bible besides the ‘major’ and ‘minor’ Prophets. Right?
A brief look at this prophet, Agur
- His utterance: This has the sense of a prophetic word, inspired by God. Like Solomon earlier in the book (Proverbs 2:6), Agur understood that his words here came from God.
- Many previous proverbs teach that humility is an essential aspect of wisdom. Here, with poetic exaggeration, Agur declared his own limitations when it comes to understanding and wisdom.
“Philosophy had failed him, and revelation was his sole confidence.”
Charles Spurgeon
