I Judge No One (But how does God judge?)

Shall not the Judge of all the earth do justice?”

Genesis 18:23b LSB – Question of Abraham to YHWH
18:23 וַיִּגַּשׁ אַבְרָהָם וַיֹּאמַר הַאַף תִּסְפֶּה צַדִּיק עִם־רָשָׁע׃

To do righteousness and justice

map of Sodom, Gomorrah and Zoar
Genesis 19:22 Hurry, escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there.”
Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar [insignificance].

You may know the VERDICT.

Perhaps you carry GUILT from practicing its wickedness in your past.

Will the Judge actually pronounce a DEATH SENTENCE against the guilty?

DOES GOD EXECUTE punishment on a city or nation as JUSTICE for all?

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Have you ever heard that?

Evil arguments out of context of Jesus' preaching cunningly cross-examining any judgment of righteously prosecuting sin.

Did you ever say it judgingly?

‘Judge not, that ye be not judged.’

For those with ears to hear, judge for yourself from a parallel verse in Luke’s Gospel where the Lord applies “judging.”

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:

condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:

forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Give, and it shall be given unto you;

Luke 6:37-38a King James Version

Innocent OR Guilty!

The Judge rightfully determines guilt or innocence.

The just Judge has weighed the evidence, determined truth and renders a verdict of GUILTY

judge's gavel - quote: And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment

OR

dismisses our case as an INNOCENT man — that is, adam — which He formed in His own image.

Justice of peace, justice of war, justice of actions of sinful man —ALL are weighed in the balance of God’s mercy and consequence for trespass into temptation and punishable actions of evil.

The Judge of all men, a judge of temporal trespass, the discerning individual facing his accused — ALL must consider the evidence, render a verdict and weigh the just punishment to atone for this evil.

You may know the VERDICT !

Many times the LORD, the Judge of the sons of Abraham, the Judge of the nations, the Judge of ALL mankind made in His Image — the LORD God has revealed HIS VERDICT prior to His punishment order to be executed on the guilty.

Time and time again the Prophets had revealed such judgments.

Occasionally a guilty people repented and plead for mercy.

The Judge of all the earth knew who would REPENT and obey the LAW of all righteousness. And He knows how men harden our hearts to be like stone and so often will not repent.. even to save our mortal life.. to avoid an eternal fire of His Justifiable and righteous wrath against ALL evil.. against our personal offense, a trespass against our loving Father.

A grievous SIN against the LORD!

From the beginning the LORD has cautioned men and women to flee the fire of judgment to come!

Genesis 18:

And the LORD said,

Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

God our Father — the Father of Abraham is a Personal God.

The LORD warns the faithful, including, as you know, Abraham’s nephew Lot and his family.

Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed…

See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city [Zoar], for the which thou hast spoken.

You know the VERDICT of your wickedness!

Yet DO YOU LOOK BACK?

WE are GUILTY! …

Therefore what punishment must we expect?

Who Judged according to the Law of Moses?

Take note, beloved able men of Christ's Church.

And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people: rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

So they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but they judged every small case themselves.

Exodus 18:25-26 NKJV

tablet of the 10 Commands from the Pentateuch or Law of Moses received from the LORD in Exodus

Moses did not writeThe Ten Words

— the Commandment.

The LORD gave the Commandment!

And the LORD delegated the judgment of righteous men to righteous rulers of nations and states and cities and townships and villages and families – judgment of a man over his wife and judgment by both over their own sinful growing children, as we ourselves have been.

Are the loving disciples of Jesus not His own children and servants?

Are we not in Christ adopted as sons and daughters of God our Father waiting to obediently do His will — pausing to listen to the Word of His only Son and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit?

they judged every small case themselves.

SO are WE, as disciples and children of Christ Jesus not capable of doing that ourselves?

In fact, the Lord Jesus makes discernment and judgment a first priority to His apostles sent out in evangelism of sinful cities, unknown towns perhaps not so unlike Sodom.

Matthew 10:

“Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves.

Matthew 10:16 CSB
